no one cares about them. By helping Our Place Peel with financial
and product donations, volunteering your time or organizing a fundraiser,
you’re helping us prove
to these kids that people do care.

Volunteering with Our Place Peel, where homeless
young people learn to believe in themselves and their future, provides
rewards you can’t
imagine.
We fully screen and train our volunteers
to ensure the best quality volunteer experience. Not only will
you develop teamwork, leadership and work skills, meet new people
and share your good fortune with others, you’ll leave each time with the satisfaction of making
a real difference in someone’s life!
We’re looking for people from all walks
of life and areas of expertise who share the common goal of wanting
to help disadvantaged and homeless youth make a new start in life.
We require volunteers in the following areas:
1. our place peel board
of directors - call for applications
Our Place Peel is a non-profit organization that provides community
leadership to address the needs of youth ages 16-21 with in the Region
of Peel. We exist to provide advocacy, education, residential and
support services. Through programs designed to empower youth, we
strive to instill hope and enhance lives by providing counselling
and resources along with the basic necessities of life.
Our Place Peel Programs
Emergency Youth Shelter
The Shelter
provides crisis counselling and support to homeless youth for an
average stay of three weeks. During this time, individual plans for
the youth are developed in order for them move back into the community.
Resource Room Program
Youth
are supported and trained by a Resource Counsellor on the use of
computers and the internet in order to learn skills in searching
for services such as: jobs, accommodations etc... Access to the Resource
Room is open to youth in the community as well as youth who are using
our services.

provide funds for the operation of Our Place Peel. |

the organization according to the constitution and by-laws. |

to exercise good stewardship of Our Place Peel on behalf of
the trust
placed in it by all stakeholders. |

Responsible
for the governance of Our Place Peel and oversees the management

Our Place Peel’s finances. |

To oversee
the implementation of the strategic plan. |

Attend and
participate in Board meetings as required (the Board meets
every 4th Tuesday of the month). |

Participate
on sub committees that include finance, HR, Fundraising and
a Nominating committee. |

2. front - line
We
need people with good communication skills, a non-judgmental approach,
and excellent listening skills to assist staff with the facilitation
of day / evening programs by interacting with residents. You will
also support residents with their accommodation searches, resume
preparation, etc. Minimum time commitment:
3 hours per week.
3. resource
room
Make
the most of your good written and verbal communication skills and
patient attitude as you assist our Resource Counselor with client
case plans by providing support with job and accommodation searches.
Minimum time commitment: 2.5 hours per week
4. workshop
If
you would like to share your expertise by running a workshop on a
specific topic, please feel free to propose the workshop idea to
us. (Background or skill in that area is required.) We
also have opportunities for you to provide support and encouragement
to youth while they attend workshops.

fundraise
Hosting a fundraiser in support of Our Place Peel is an excellent
way to raise awareness of youth homelessness, provide financial support
for our goals, and have fun!
There’s no limit to the types of events you can choose from.
Host a dinner party and request donations. Hold a community garage
sale and barbeque with proceeds for Our Place Peel. Enlist your co-workers,
teammates and friends for a walk-a-thon, bike-a-thon, bowl-a-thon.
Whatever your interest, there’s a way to support Our Place
Peel and show our kids you care.
